So How Big is Your But?

It's kind of funny how we go through life as church leaders, hearing about all of the Big Buts in peoples' lives. "But if only my wife was nicer to me, I could be a better husband." "If my boss would treat me better, I would work harder." "But I have always been a good person, so why won't God give me what I want?" It is often with the best of intentions that our volunteers, group leaders, and members show us their buts. Through all of the counseling sessions and all of the coffee appointments, we are confronted with people's Big Buts so often that

Our Father’s Chat can help you serve your ministry or congregation better and still have time for the rest God wants for you. So let’s get your own Big But out of the way, shall we? The fact is, we like Big Buts and we cannot lie (and you won’t be able to deny)!

Do any of these sound familiar?
• But I don’t want to let go of control.
• But I don’t think people will want to talk to somebody online.
• But I’m sure they can’t do it like I do.
• But I’m not really sure that it’s for me.
• But I don’t understand how it works.
• But I just don’t have time to deal with one more thing right now.
• But what if they don’t stay within our culture?
• But what happens if they don’t pray right?

Well, when we see all of those Big Buts, we have two of our own to show you:
• But what if that’s not true?
• But what if that’s just your Big But or core lie?

We have to remember that God is never closed. People are in need 24/7/365 and it is simply impossible to reach all of them all of the time within our own human strength. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Our Father’s Chat can be the arm of your congregation or ministry that is there to extend God’s hand not matter what time of the day it is. We can help you put processes in place that help administrate the needs of your church.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” With Our Father’s Chat, we have the ability to bring life with every stroke of the key. Words are not only what is spoken with our tongues, but also what is typed with our fingertips. According to statistics put out by several cell phone companies, time spent texting surpassed time spent talking on our phones in 2009. With this in mind, our job is to make sure we’re breathing life with every chat opportunity and that we’re pointing people towards God’s Kingdom and not the problems they have in their lives. Those problems are very real, but the key to overcoming them is through God.
