What about differences in theology and doctrine?

This is one of the most common questions we hear from church pastors and leaders. Our Father's Chat is not here to establish or argue doctrine. We are an extension of your church. We speak as you speak. We ask you to be very specific in how you want us to chat with those who find you online. We have hot key prompts in place that allow the chat personnel – our "God Squad" – to pray with people and then connect them directly to you for further discussion.

And think of it this way – most pastors and leaders do not tell their congregation not to pray for anyone they meet throughout the week because they might pray wrong. Live chat is no different. Who are the people answering chats?

We have an amazing team of chat agents whom we affectionately call our God Squad. These are people who have a heart for God, a love for people, and are extensively trained for your specific website and preferences. What about emergency situations?

Our chat agents are specially trained to refer emergency situations directly to the agency of your choice. For instance, if someone is contemplating suicide, they will steer that person into contact with an appropriate suicide hotline or 24-hour ministry who is licensed to handle such situations. If you choose, we are able to text message the transcript to an emergency cell phone live-time to an on-call ministry team member. Are chat agents licensed counselors?

No, we are not. Our chat personnel are not here to give counseling advice to anyone online. We leave that to you and/or the ministries and teams you prefer. Our mission is to bring people to you. How do the chat agents know what I want to say?

We have a very specific protocol we go through, called an onboarding process, for each of our clients. A qualified senior representative will meet with you on Skype, by telephone, or in person. During that meeting, we will drill down into all of the intricate information we need from you to be able to do what we do best – help you help them.

We ask you to tell us exactly what you want through a full scope of work. We follow the guidelines you give us. We are also able to take prewritten prayers provided by your ministry and load them as hot keys for the chat agents to use. These prayers can be written with various categories in mind, such as health, loneliness, finances, or abuse. You tell us how you would like to interact with your visitors and we'll follow your preferences in bringing God's love to those who are searching for him. Do I have time for this?

This is a big question for pastors and leaders. Your schedules are stretched thin and time management is a must. This is where we help. Our chat personnel can answer questions people might have about service times, appointments, calendar items, directions to your location, and other basic information on the site.

For those chats that become "calls to action" that require follow-up, you decide how those are handled. You provide us with the names and contact information of who should handle various topics and we send real-time information as needed. We send out a text within seconds to the correct pastor or leader along with a full emailed transcript of the chat.

For instance, if a visitor comes in asking for counseling about a family situation, Our Father's Chat will ask the person to provide their contact information and how they would prefer to be contacted. We then send a text letting the pastor or leader know there is follow-up requested. The entire conversation is then emailed to the pastor or leader so they know exactly what to expect when they make contact. All of this information is sent to your team in a matter of seconds. How will I know when I need to do something?

When we do the onboarding process, we will ask you to tell us who is responsible for each individual department. For instance, who is our contact for questions about tithing? Who is our contact for reservations for a special occasion? Who is our contact for children's ministry? You specify how you want information delivered. You will be kept in the loop through real-time communication. If you need to make contact with an individual, a text will be sent to your phone within seconds of the request. What languages are available?

Can we help with chats, too?

Absolutely. If you have volunteers in your church that would like to help out, we are happy to work with them and train them to do so. Isn't this kind of impersonal?

Live chat is actually very personal. We find that people feel less ashamed of sharing their story when they have the anonymity of live chat. They will share secrets and pour out truths about their situation that they might not in a one-on-one physical meeting with a pastor or leader. Once they realize they are still accepted and loved, regardless of the story they've shared, it helps give them the courage to meet with someone and develop a relationship with the local church. How much does it cost?

You will find that our price packages for ministries are discounted from the usual fees for clients who use our regular live chat service. There is a fee for this service due to the realities of staffing 24/7/365, but we see this as a ministry to ministries. Pricing can start as low as $199.00 per month with no long-term commitments. Relationships are at their best when both parties want to be in it. Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

We do not ask for a long-term commitment. We only want to work together as long as both parties want to work together. We sincerely believe in commitment, not compromise, in our relationship with Our Father's Chat clients. It's easy to allow compromise to become a deceptive pathway to resentment. That's why we value commitment to each other. It's not done with an attitude of, "Look what I did for you." Instead, we love the joy of making a commitment to do something that furthers the Kingdom of God. There are no hidden costs or agendas. What kinds of chats should we expect?

The sky's the limit! The churches who have used Our Father's Chat are finding that the questions can be everything from what time are church services to expressing a need for prayer. One of our churches has a daycare center they operate on site and they have been surprised at the number of inquiries they have received through chat contacts. Our clients tell us it seems to keep the classrooms filled. Why doesn't anyone else do this?

Before launching Our Father's Chat, we asked this same question. In talking with other chat companies, they quite simply communicated that they don't want the hassle of what it takes to keep something like this staffed. We go through a rigorous hiring process for our God Squad chat agents. We have a waiting list of people who want to become Our Father's Chat agents, but not everyone qualifies. Our hiring team knows the difference between an individual having Christ in their head and having Christ in their heart.

Another reason other chat agencies choose not to venture into this arena is the attention it brings. In our world today, Christianity as a whole is coming under fire. The possibility of drawing attention from groups that are attacking Christians is a scary prospect.
